Use AI to Find a Job: CV, Cover Letter and Interview Practice
How to use AI honestly to write a stronger CV, tailor each application and practise interviews, without making anything up.
AI can help you apply for jobs faster and better, as long as you use it honestly. It should polish your real experience, never invent it.
1. A stronger CV from your own words
Write down what you actually did in each job, in simple words. Then ask AI to turn it into clear, professional bullet points:
Act as a career coach. Turn these notes into 4 strong CV bullet points with action verbs. Do not add anything I did not say: "served about 50 customers a day, handled the cash register, trained 2 new staff".
Or use the Academy's free CV and cover letter writer, which does this for the whole CV and lets you print or save it as a PDF.
2. Tailor every application
Paste the job advert and ask:
List the 5 skills this job asks for most. Then tell me which of my CV points match each one.
Employers notice when a CV speaks to their exact job.
3. A cover letter that sounds like you
Ask AI for a short first draft, then change it to sound like you. Remove anything that is not true.
4. Practise the interview
Act as an interviewer for a customer service job. Ask me one question at a time and give feedback on each of my answers.
Practising out loud builds confidence fast.
Rules to follow
- Never invent degrees, jobs or skills. It can cost you the job.
- Check every fact the AI writes about you.
- Keep private details out: your BVN, NIN and passwords never go into AI tools.
