Free AI Tools for Beginners: Where to Start
You do not need to pay to start learning AI. The free chatbots, image makers and everyday tools we use in class, plus the free tools made by the Academy.
You can learn and use AI without spending money. These are the kinds of free tools we use in the Sunday class. Free plans change often, so check each tool's own website for its current limits.
Chatbots: ask, write, explain
- ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) has a free plan. Good for writing, explaining and brainstorming.
- Google Gemini (gemini.google.com) is free with a Google account and works well with Gmail and Google Docs.
- Microsoft Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com) is free and can also make images.
Pick one and use it for a week before trying others. The skill that matters most is how you ask, see How to Write a Prompt That Gets Great Answers.
Design and pictures
- Canva has a free plan with AI features for flyers, posts and presentations.
- Microsoft Designer turns a written description into an image.
