Sell on Your Website: Products, Prices and Payments
Add products with photos and prices to the website you built in the Code Lab, take card and transfer payments into your own account, and get a message on your phone for every order.
You built a website in the Code Lab. Now you want to sell on it — real products, real prices, money that lands in your account.
Everything below is already in TaniX. There is nothing to install and no monthly fee, and the Academy takes no cut of your sales.
1. Add your products
Open your website's Admin Panel, then Database. Your products live in a collection called products. Each product has:
- name — what the customer sees
- price — a number, in your currency
- image — a photo (press Upload a photo on the product)
- stock — how many you have, if you want to track it
- options — sizes, colours, flavours, each able to add to the price
Add your first product, press Save, and it is live.
2. Put a Buy button on the page
In the Code Lab, a button needs one attribute:
<button data-taa-buy="PRODUCT_ID">Buy now</button>
Or build a proper cart:
data-taa-add="PRODUCT_ID"— add to cartdata-taa-cart— open the cartdata-taa-cart-count— the little number on the cart icondata-taa-pay-result— the thank-you note after payment
You do not have to write any JavaScript. The price is read from your database, never from the page, so nobody can change it in their browser and pay less.
3. Connect how you get paid
Pick the one that suits where your customers are:
- Paystack — Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa. Cards, bank transfer, USSD.
- Flutterwave — across Africa, plus mobile money.
- Stripe — customers paying from abroad in dollars, pounds or euros.
You connect your own account. The money goes from your customer to you. Connect it once and it works on every website you own.
4. Ask for delivery details
In Payments, choose what to ask a buyer before they pay: nothing, their name and phone, or a full delivery address with phone. TaniX asks for it and keeps it on the order, so you know where the parcel goes.
5. Every order reaches you
When somebody pays, you get a message in Connect and a notification on your phone, straight away. Open Payments to see the order: what was bought, what was paid, and the delivery details.
From there you can mark an order fulfilled or shipped. Add a tracking number and TaniX emails the buyer once to tell them it is on the way.
Before you open your shop
- Use a test key first (see the guide for your provider) and buy something yourself.
- Check the money arrives in your provider's dashboard.
- Only then swap in your live key.
Nobody has ever regretted testing with their own money first. Plenty have regretted not doing it.
