Connect Flutterwave to Your Website
Take payments across Africa — cards, bank transfer and mobile money — into your own Flutterwave account.
Flutterwave reaches further across Africa than most, and it handles mobile money, which matters in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Rwanda. The money goes into your own Flutterwave account.
1. Open a Flutterwave account
Sign up at flutterwave.com, complete their business verification, and add the bank account you want paying out to. Start this early — verification takes longer than the setup below.
2. Find your secret key
In the Flutterwave dashboard, open Settings, then API.
You will see several values. The one you need is the Secret Key, and it looks like this:
- live:
FLWSECK-... - test:
FLWSECK_TEST-...
The public key and the encryption key are not what TaniX needs.
The secret key can move your money. It goes in one place only — the box in step 3. Never in your page's code, never in a message, never to someone who asks for it.
3. Paste it into TaniX
Open your website's Admin Panel → Payments.
- Choose Flutterwave
- Paste the secret key — TaniX checks it starts with
FLWSECK-orFLWSECK_TEST-and tells you if you have pasted the wrong one - Choose your currency
- Save
The key is encrypted on the server. It never reaches your web page.
4. Test, then go live
Use the FLWSECK_TEST- key first and buy something on your own website with one of Flutterwave's test cards. Check that the order appears in Payments and that your phone buzzes.
Then swap in the FLWSECK- live key and save.
Things worth knowing
- Mobile money is the reason to pick Flutterwave over the others in several countries. If most of your customers pay that way, start here.
- One account, every website. Connect once, sell on all of them.
- No cut to the Academy. Flutterwave's own fees apply, and nothing else.
